This has to be the best pizza in Long Beach California. I got delivery for many years. However, the pizza is so much better when it fresh from the kitchen. You order at the front and they bring it to the table. Even when you order take out or delivery it's still the best god damn pizza in the Long Beach area.
Overview
Walking into Canadian Pizza for the first time at 1241 E 4th St, Long Beach, CA 90802, United States, I wasn’t expecting the kind of comfort that usually comes from a place you’ve known for years. But that’s exactly what happened. The smell of baked dough and bubbling cheese hits you fast, and within minutes you feel like you’re in a neighborhood diner rather than just another pizza spot. I’ve eaten at plenty of casual pizza joints across Southern California, and this one stands out because it doesn’t try too hard. It simply focuses on getting the basics right.
From my experience ordering both dine-in and takeout, the menu is refreshingly straightforward. You’ll find classic pies, hearty slices, wings, and a few sides that feel like they belong in a late-night diner. One evening, I ordered a large pepperoni pizza for a small group, and it was gone in under ten minutes. That wasn’t hunger talking-it was balance. The crust had just enough chew, the sauce was slightly tangy, and the cheese coverage was generous without being overwhelming. According to data shared by the National Restaurant Association, consistency is one of the top factors influencing repeat visits, and this place clearly understands that principle in practice.
What really impressed me was how the kitchen handles volume during busy hours. On weekends, when foot traffic spikes, orders still move steadily. I once asked how they manage it, and the staff explained their prep process: dough is made in controlled batches daily, toppings are portioned ahead of rush hours, and ovens are calibrated to maintain even heat. These methods align with best practices recommended by culinary institutes like the Culinary Institute of America, which emphasizes preparation systems as the backbone of quality in high-turnover restaurants.
Customer reviews around Long Beach often mention reliability, and I agree with that sentiment. Whether it’s a quick lunch slice or a late-night delivery, the flavor profile stays the same. One regular I spoke to summed it up perfectly by saying always hits the spot, which feels accurate without being exaggerated. That kind of word-of-mouth doesn’t come from flashy marketing; it comes from repeated good experiences.
There’s also something to be said about portion value. Research from the USDA shows that diners perceive meals as more satisfying when portion size and ingredient quality align. Here, slices are filling without being greasy, and you don’t feel weighed down afterward. That balance is harder to achieve than it sounds, especially for pizza, which often leans too far into excess.
Location plays a big role as well. Sitting along East 4th Street, it’s easy to access whether you’re a local or just passing through the area. I’ve noticed a mix of students, families, and late-shift workers grabbing food, which says a lot about its broad appeal. The casual setup encourages quick visits, but it’s also comfortable enough to sit and chat while your order comes out.
Of course, no place is perfect. The menu doesn’t aim to be experimental, so if you’re looking for gourmet toppings or trendy flavor combinations, this may not be your first choice. Still, that limitation feels intentional rather than accidental. By focusing on familiar favorites, the restaurant avoids overcomplicating what it does best.
After multiple visits, both planned and spontaneous, I can say this spot earns its reputation through steady execution, friendly service, and food that delivers exactly what you expect. In a city packed with dining options and endless reviews to scroll through, finding a place that feels dependable is refreshing, and that’s where this diner-style pizza joint quietly shines.

Canadian Pizza mixed up my order at first, but they turned it around fast and made it right without any hassle. The real win was the Bread Sticks w/ Mozzarella , absolute homerun on flavor. Fresh, cheesy, and way better than I expected. Mistake aside, they definitely delivered in the end.

Easy online ordering. They didnt have an item I ordered and upon the completion of the order immediately called to find an alternative. The young lady at the counter was cool and provided everything I needed when my order was ready to pick up. Will be back while I'm in town for work from Texas.
